Careers & Enterprise (CEIAG)
Hope academy is committed to providing all students with up to date and impartial information, advice and guidance on careers, education, training and employment.
Career Connect visit Hope Academy on a weekly basis to offer expert careers support and guidance. All year 11 students will meet with Career Connect to guide them throughout their future choices regarding post 16 education, apprenticeships and employment.
We provide a full careers programme via our Hope Inspire programme and our annual Careers Fair when we welcome over 30 employers, universities and apprenticeship providers. Year groups 8-13 visit the fair during the day and are encouraged to speak with the providers to gain knowledge of qualifications required for a number of careers. We also have a number of visits from apprenticeship providers during the year and have extensive links with local Universities helping students to make informed choices about their post 16 future.
As part of our commitment to prepare students for a rapidly changing world, we use an innovative online resource called Start right through from year 7-13.
Hope Academy measures and assesses the impact of the careers programme through tracking destinations of school leavers (Post 16 and Post 18) and the engagement of students in year 7 to 13 with the planned annual careers activities. These approaches aim to ensure that every young person has an offer of employment, education or training in place by the time they leave school (known as the September Guarantee).
The Academy will review careers programmes and outcomes annually to ensure we meet the needs of our students, national guidelines and actions set out by the DFE in our own funding agreement.
In 2016 100% of young people received an offer for employment, education or training post 16.
The percentage of pupils progressing to sustained education, employment or training for 2016 leavers was 96%. (Post 16)
