Head of School Blog - Week 25
We have made it to the end of a very difficult week. Thank you for your messages of support and encouragement in recent days, it has meant a lot to our staff team. With Hope Academy closing its doors to the majority of students at the end of today, staff have worked tirelessly throughout the week to ensure our young people have access to home learning resources for all. As per my previous correspondence it’s important that students who will be continuing their learning at home, do so in a structured manner.
This Blog will pause in the coming weeks or months but please continue to follow us on Twitter @Hope_Academy from home for news highlights.
As a Christian community we should always try to use Jesus as a guide, especially in difficult times.
Our focus should always be foremost on Christ’s greatest commandments: to ‘love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbours as ourselves.’ (Mark 12:29-30). Indeed, this was the Gospel at Mass on the 20th March – the last time churches were open to the public. What a wonderful instruction that God gave us to remember and to act upon!
Loving God means laying aside fear and anxiety – he is in control. We love our neighbours by being Be the voice of encouragement and comfort to those who are lonely, anxious and afraid.
We need above all to be kind, not fearful.
Finally, we love God and neighbour by praying for them. May we find comfort in prayer and find the courage to adapt to the changes in our lives that will happen over these coming days and weeks with a positive mind.
God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
Courage to change the things we can
And wisdom to know the difference.
Finally, this is the letter that I have shared with our students today. Take care and god bless.
