GCSE Results 2020 Press Release

Celebrating the exceptional Class of 2020

On Thursday, we celebrated our Year 11 students receiving their GCSE results. We are delighted with their efforts and exceptional resilience during these extraordinary times. We want to congratulate all students on their results – it has been a delight to see so many students rewarded for their hard work and commitment to their studies. We remain exceptionally proud of our Class of 2020 Leavers who have handled the disruption of the last few months with maturity and resilience and who have continued to drive their learning and wider skills development through the Academy’s learning programme. We look forward to welcoming many of our students into Hope Academy Sixth Form in September.  We would like to wish all our students good luck for the future.

Quoting exam grade statistics can be flawed during the most ‘normal’ of academic years but especially so this year given the Government’s U-turn announcement on the 17th August that students’ final grades would be the higher of their Centre Assessed Grades and the algorithm’s calculated grades. We are therefore going to focus on the achievements of individuals: their personal learning journey; obstacles overcome and the exciting pathways that are now open to these students.

Our Year 11 students have contributed a rich variety of academic, sporting and creative talents to our community. Examination results reflect only a part of the wonderful young people who will now venture into the next stages of their lives.

“The results this year are a reflection of a committed and hard-working Academy family. Students have worked exceptionally hard to achieve their goals and it has been a pleasure to celebrate with them. We would like to thank all staff for going above and beyond to ensure our students have the best possible chances of success. We are remarkably proud of each and every student.” Patrick Ferguson: Principal and CEO, Marie Adams: Head of School.

Looking ahead, we look forward to welcoming other year groups back to the Academy, on a staggered introduction, from Friday 4th September. Despite changes necessitated by Government guidance, we remain excited about delivering our broad and balanced academic and wider curriculum, including further investment in our extra-curricular clubs and activities programme which is so important in developing the core values, passions and personalities of our students.

Well done! Staff, Governors and Trustees are incredibly proud of you all.
