Head of School Blog
I wrote to you at the end of the last academic year and it seems hard to believe that we are already two weeks into the new term! I am delighted to welcome students new and old to our fantastic community. Your positive support and dedication to excellence in education is very much appreciated and I look forward to working with you and your children. Students have made a very positive start to the term and are looking forward to the year ahead.
Our skilled and dedicated staff is already planning and preparing for another busy year. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our new members of staff:
Kasia Boydell, Chaplain
Mr C Wignall, Industry Co-Ordinator
Miss S Brookfield, Head of Geography and Miss A Barsyte, Geography Teacher
Miss S De Boer, Lead MFL Teacher and Mr P Davis MFL Teacher
Miss J Barnett, History Teacher
Dr L Wilson and Mr S Harding, Science Teachers
Mr G Logan and Miss N McGill, Learning Support Assistants
I would like to update you about a number of important matters:
Outside Catering Hub
Your children may have mentioned our new outdoor catering facility which will enable students to get their lunch quickly and make the most of their lunchbreak.
We will be hosting a launch event in the main hall next week to showcase our extra-curricular opportunities to students. Please encourage your son/daughter to take part in the activities – there are lots of wonderful clubs which will enrich the curriculum.
Parking and Safeguarding
During the first week of term a message was sent to parents with regards to drop-off and pick-up traffic on the academy site. I kindly ask that you do not park in the bus lane or turning circle at the bottom of the car park either during the morning or afternoon. Parents should not wait at the student exit gates to collect their children, please arrange to meet your child at reception. Working together we can ensure the safety of our school community and avoid any possible accidents. Please note: car park gates are locked at 3.15pm and are not opened until the site is clear of students
Start of the Academy Day
We are encouraging students to arrive by 8.30am to ensure that they are on site and responding to the movement bell which sounds at 8.35am.
Please make sure you child arrives at the Academy with the following equipment each day:
Black/blue/red pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, scientific calculator. All stationary items can be purchased from pastoral offices during Inspire time. Scientific calculators are available from the maths department.
Home School Communication - SIMs Parent App
As previously notified, we are moving away from sending correspondence via post where possible and are encouraging you to sign up to the SIMs Parent App. This allows you to see your child’s timetable in real time, as well as receiving alerts about achievements and any behaviour points. You will also receive alerts when your child’s report is available. For further information please see our website. /970/sims-parent-app
I will be posting regular updates on our website News Blog and encourage you all to visit it regularly. /231/news-blog
