GCSE Exam Success 2018

What an outstanding year; a brilliant set of GCSE results at Hope Academy!

Y11 students are celebrating excellent results this year. 64% of entries achieved 4-9/C-A* passes whilst a massive 61% of students entered achieved 5 or more 4-9/C-A* passes.

69% of students achieved a Grade 4-9 in English and 63% achieved Grade4-9 in Maths(an increase of 8% since 2017!) There have been significant increases across all Science qualifications with the separate Sciences seeing a 100% 4-9 pass rate.

This exceptional success was replicated across a wide range of subjects which once again confirms the breadth of opportunity on offer at Hope Academy. Record results included Photography achieving 100% grades 4-9, P.E, achieving 95% grades 4-9(40% achieving grades 7+!), Art with its best ever results 92% 4-9 (76% 5+) and Drama achieving 77% grades 4-9.

Students have also performed extremely well in all vocational qualifications. Early indicators suggest outstanding progress across these subjects.

Following the April 2018 Section 48 Inspection report which judged the Academy to be Outstanding in all areas, R.E. achieved 68% grades 4-9. This demonstrates an 18% increase from the previous year. These grades include some outstanding individual performances: 22 students gaining grades 8-9 and 46 students gaining 7+.

Grades 8 and 9 reflect the ability of the highest attaining students nationally. Overall, Hope Academy students achieved an astounding 85 grade 8 and 9s across a range of subjects, with 184 grades being 7+.

Congratulations to all Hope Academy students who have received their GCSE results – it was a delight to see so many students rewarded for their hard work and commitment to their studies. Well done – staff, governors and sponsors are incredibly proud of you all.

“The results this year are a testament to a dedicated Hope Academy family. We are committed to providing all of our students with the best possible educational opportunities that transform into the highest academic and social achievement. We look forward to a record number of students continuing their journey with us into Sixth form, following last week’s excellent A-Level and Vocational results which allowed every university applicant to secure their place. I am remarkably proud of each and every student.” Patrick Ferguson.
